Oil changes are the most important aspect of regular maintenance on your vehicle. If oil changes are left too long the oil thickens and becomes sludgy. The oil over time also accumulates dirt, acids and moisture. Thick and dirty oil causes your engine to work harder, operate at higher temperatures, and causes wear and damage to the internal moving parts. When the engine is not performing optimally this causes strain and wear on other systems in the vehicle. For example if the engine is running hotter then the cooling system has to try to compensate and keep the vehicle from overheating.
With the severe weather conditions of living in Canada and also living in a city with lots of stop and go traffic we recommend oil changes every 6,000 KM.
Synthetic vs Regular Oil
Most common remark we hear about synthetic oil is that it lasts longer so the oil change intervals can be extended. Synthetic oil performs the same functions as regular oil and gets dirt and moisture in it over time as well. Synthetic oil is designed to resist break-down as quick as regular oil (makes oil thick and sludgy), to withstand higher temperatures (performance vehicles), and to flow smoother in colder temperatures (frigid winter start-ups). Synthetic oil should still be changed at the same intervals as regular oil.
Oil and Filter vs Oil Service
We have 2 different oil change packages.
1) Oil and Filter – we replace the engine oil and filter
2) Oil Service – we replace the engine oil and filter. Check and adjust tire pressure. Check and adjust fluid levels. Lubricate all latched, hinges and locks. Perform a 30 point inspection.
Both are available with regular and synthetic oil.
Regular Oil and Filter is $39.95 for up to 4 liters of oil (plus tax and environmental) . Additional charge for amounts of oil over 4 liters.
Synthetic Oil and Filter is $79.95 for up to 4 liters of oil (plus tax and environmental) . Additional charge for amounts of oil over 4 liters.
Regular or synthetic oil service depends on the vehicle.
Call or email us for an estimate on oil changes for your vehicle. Please have the year, make and model of your vehicle information available. To ensure the accuracy of the estimate the engine size of your vehicle may be required as well.
